Reverend Cole Jones has never known a life apart from Ninevah Missionary Baptist Church. Born into its pews and shaped by its pulpit, he is — in every meaningful sense — a son of this house. Trained and mentored under Pastor-Emeritus Will Goodman III, he carries that formation into the senior pastorate as Ninevah's sixth Senior Pastor, with the same conviction that has marked every season of his ministry: an unrelenting commitment to serve wherever he is needed.

That formation was never passive. Over the course of seventeen years, Reverend Jones served in nearly every dimension of Ninevah life from Youth Department President, Youth Pastor, Young Adults Pastor, Education Department Head, Playing the piano, directing choirs and ultimately in a combined role that bridged both generations under a single, unified vision. It was a season defined by presence, consistency, and the kind of slow, steady trust that only time can build.

His footprint at Ninevah stretches well beyond the youth wing. For twenty-two years, he served on the Audio Visual team, leading it for the last fourteen — overseeing the technology, production, and digital infrastructure that carries the church's voice beyond its walls. He also served as Education Department Head for three years, preceded by four years as Assistant Department Head.

Academically, Reverend Jones is a product of Shades Valley High School and Auburn University, where he pursued a demanding triple major in Finance, Economics, and Building Science. He later entered graduate study in Community Planning at the master's level, directing his research toward one of the most consequential questions facing the American church: what drives growth and decline in the Black congregation, and how can community organizing methods help reverse the trends?

Reverend Jones is a twice-published author and hosts podcasts that extend his teaching ministry beyond Sunday mornings. He is a gifted musician — find him directing mass choirs at Ninevah and across the state of Alabama, or seated at the piano in a quiet moment before the service begins. But it is preaching that anchors everything. His singular gift is translating the deep, difficult truths of Scripture into language that ordinary people can not only understand, but carry home with them. He does not simplify the gospel. He illuminates it.

Away from the pulpit, he surfs, golfs, and takes to the water whenever life allows. He keeps a garden, bakes sourdough from scratch, and approaches the grill with the same care he brings to a sermon. Loki, his golden retriever, is less a pet and more a permanent sermon illustration in fur.

Ninevah did not merely call a pastor. It charged a son.
